About Ben

I’m an award-winning journalist with extensive professional journalism experience at the Baltimore Sun, Tampa Bay Times, NBC News and Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting.

I’m a graduate of Duke University, where I was Managing Editor of the Duke Chronicle (2018-2019), which won the 2018 Pacemaker Award (“College journalism’s Pulitzer Prize) for online content under my tenure and was a Pacemaker finalist for print.

I have won Duke’s Fischer-Zernin Award for Local Journalism, the Duke Chronicle’s Editor’s Award for outstanding contributions to the newspaper, and the 2020 AAN BINJ Award, as well as the Tampa Bay Times Fund scholarship.

My reporting has made an impact, changing a government program so it could reach more low-income residents, exposing tens of thousands of errant government spending, revealing scandal in President Trump’s transition team, and changing university policy.
